One of the most sought-after entertainment destinations, JioHotstar has revamped its subscription pricing, introducing monthly plans across all tiers, endowing greater flexibility to new subscribers. The new pricing structure will be effective from January 28. The company said that existing subscribers will continue to be on their current plans and prices as long as their auto-renewal plans remain active.
JioHotstar has now unveiled monthly options for its Mobile, Super, and Premium tiers with monthly prices starting from Rs 79. So far, the streaming platform has focused on quarterly and annual subscriptions. The platform’s latest announcement signals a shift in viewer preferences, especially considering the spurt in TV consumption over the past year.
The company revealed that large-screen viewership on JioHotstar has seen a significant hike in the 11 months since its launch. The revised pricing aims to induce both mobile-first users and families streaming premium content on connected TVs, at the same time allowing them to choose plans based on how and where they watch.
As part of the new structure, Hollywood content will be included by default in the Super and Premium tiers for new subscribers. On the other hand, users on the Mobile tier will continue to have access to most of the platform’s content but would require a separate add-on to see Hollywood titles. This allows mobile users to customise their subscriptions, essentially preventing them from paying for content they may not consume.
Further, JioHotstar said the update will not impact current subscribers. Those already on active plans will retain the same pricing and benefits if their subscriptions continue to auto-renew.
| Tier | Monthly (Rs) | Quarterly (Rs) | Annual (Rs) | Devices | Ads | Hollywood content |
| Mobile | 79 | 149 | 499 | 1 mobile device | Ad-supported | Add-on required |
| Super | 149 | 349 | 1,099 | Up to 2 devices | Ad-supported | Included |
| Premium | 299 | 699 | 2,199 | Up to 4 devices | Ad-free* | Included |
*Ad-free except for live sports and select live shows.
The latest development comes close on the heels of JioHotstar crossing 1 billion downloads on Google Play and serving over 450 million monthly active users across India.
The platform claims to offer over 300,000 hours of content across multiple languages and genres, including live sports, movies, originals, television shows, kids’ programming, anime, and international content.
The company said the revised subscription framework is designed to support deeper connected TV adoption, mobile-led discovery, and long-term investments in content and streaming technology.
