
Interim relief for PMC employees
The standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation today approved the civic administration8217;s proposal to disburse the arrears of interim relief amounting to Rs 8,000 each to nearly 14,000 employees.
Standing committee chairman Arun Dhimdhime told media persons that the docket had proposed a sum of Rs 7,000 earlier. Even as the negotiations are underway between the administration and PMC employees union towards implementing the fifth pay commission recommendations, the standing committee decided to disburse Rs 8,000 as arrears of interim relief.
Bagwe threatened us: Mayor, others
Mayor Dattatraya Gaikwad and several corporators of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi today submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police K K Kashyap protesting against the manner in which corporator Ramesh Bagwe threatened Leader of the House in the Pune Municipal Corporation and senior MVA corporator Chandrakant Chhajed. Bagwe who technically belongs to the MVA had recently announced his support to the Congress. Chhajed had later submitted a letter to the Divisional Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal to disqualify six such corporators of the MVA under the anti-defection act which included Hanumant Darekar, Sheela Raut, Suman Mathwad and Ramesh Bagwe among others.
According to Chhajed, while the hearing of the case was taken by the Divisional Commissioner on Monday, Bagwe8217;s supporters allegedly obstructed the car of the Pune Municipal Transport Chairman Prakash Lodha and abused Chhajed. Attempts were allegedly made to blacken their faces. The senior MVA corporator also alleged that he received threats over the phone from Bagwe. The Mayor has urged the Commissioner of Police to take note of the incident and issue a warning to Bagwe. Meanwhile, Bagwe told media persons that charges against him were baseless.
