PSIEC CE demoted

CHANDIGARH, Dec 1: The Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation PSIEC has demoted its Chief Engineer B.K. Bassi to his previous rank of Superintending Engineer at a meeting of its Board of Directors, here today.The decision has been taken by the PSIEC following directions from the Industries and Commerce Department of the Punjab Government.

Earlier, the PSIEC8217;s Personnel Department had submitted a detailed note to the Industries Secretary on this issue, alleging that Bassi had misled the board in June 1991 when he himself prepared and moved the agenda for the creation of the Chief Engineer8217;s post.

The Personnel Department also alleged that Bassi had projected quot;an ambitious five-year plan costing Rs 170 crorequot;, a target which turned out to be inflated and unreal, the department noted.
