Hunger Games fashion-line for sale
Katniss Everdeen not only wields the bow and arrow of hope in Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games film franchise, she is also the muse of a new high-fashion line that carries the films fictional world of the Capitol beyond the screen. Costume designer Trish Summervilles 16-piece collection was launched for luxury online retailer Net-A-Porter,aptly labeled Capitol Couture. The film sees Katniss Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence become a symbol of revolution against the oppressive Capitol government ruling the fictional world of Panem, and has already stormed the box office with more than 307 million worldwide. Summerville hopes her collection, priced between 75 for T-shirts to 995 for a laser-cut patent leather dress inspired by Katnisss chariot outfit, will accommodate all budgets.
NBCs live Sound of Music debuts soon
A live, televised version of The Sound of Music will debut on NBC on December 5,starring country singer Carrie Underwood as the aspiring nun,Maria von Trapp, who brings song into the home of a strict Austrian widower. Producers of a new version of the Oscar-winning musical knew it would be a sacrilege to try and re-make the beloved 1965 movie classic starring Julie Andrews. Thats why they decided on a stage show, not on a Broadway stage but on movie sets in order to create something unique a hybrid. This format has not been used for about 50 years. True Blood actor Stephen Moyer plays the captain. Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced Chicago and Hairspray, said the stage show has a slightly darker tone, with more emphasis on the looming Nazi threat.
