The National Rifle Association of India NRAI has put their faith in Heena Sidhu for the London Olympics. The NRAI after a meeting held in Rudrapur on Sunday, unanimously picked Sidhu over other contenders that included Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Anisa Sayyed. Now,the NRAI will write to the ISSF to get the 3P quota exchanged for Sidhus event 10m air pistol.

Talking to The Indian Express,Sidhu said that she was expecting to get the quota place. I knew that I had a good chance of getting the nod so the news did not come as a surprise. But I am happy that I have been given this chance and that it was done taking my performances into consideration, she said.

This particular quota was won by Imran Hasan Khan in the 3-position,but the army shooters chances of retaining the quota were slim as his ranking points had fallen. Gagan Narang by winning the 10m air rifle quota had the right over one quota spot in the 3P,while Sanjeev Rajput, ranked higher than Khan, bagged the second quota.

The Army Marksmen Unit had been disputing the rankings in this event their contention was that Sushil Ghale should have been ranked higher. Rest of the team selected itself by virtue of better rankings.
