As word spread about his son Yuvraj Singhs chemotherapy treatment in the US,his father Yograj Singh said that the star batsman should have consulted the doctors earlier. Two years ago,Yuvi had this coughing issue. At that time I had advised him to get a check up done, but he did not listen to me. I feel that things could have been different today if he had got the treatment two years back. And again, six months back the doctor who saw the laboratory reports of Yuvraj had pleaded that he should be taken to the US for treatment. The doctor said that best treatment is available in the US. However,Yuvi did not go to the US, he said.
Yuvrajs tumour was detected in October last year and was first thought to be benign but has now been found malignant. Yograj said that the 30-year-old Yuvraj is being treated at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston,by the same doctor who treated legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong, who successfully fought Stage 3 testicular cancer in 1996 and returned to win 7 Tour de France titles.
The doctors are of the opinion that this treatment may take 4-6 months or even a year, added Yograj. However Yograj added that Yuvraj was responding well to treatment. Yuvraj is recovering well in the United States. He is a fighter,he will be returning to the cricket field with vigour once he recovers from the disease. He is undergoing chemotherapy and is also taking medicines, Yograj said.
