Forty nine sub-junior and junior cricketers face tough sanctions from the Cricket Association of Bengal CAB after they were caught for age fudging during the CAB Ambar Roy Under-14 Sub-Junior and Under-17 Junior tournaments.

We received complaints during the tournaments and acted against Friends of the Stadium who were disqualified for playing three over-age players in the Ambar Roy trophy semi final. After the tournaments,we checked every birth certificate with Kolkata Corporation. We found many fake birth certificates and our cricket committee is likely to order stern action against the offenders, CAB joint-secretary Subir Ganguly said. We will take preventive measures for this season8217;s tournaments. We will organise a seminar for players, parents and coaching centres, and tell them that punishment for age fudging will be at least a seven-year ban from all CAB events, he added.
