Briefly Cricket

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting may have given a thumps down to the idea of a seven-match ODI series, but his Indian counterpart MS Dhoni feels otherwise.

Long series good: Dhoni

Vadodara: Australian skipper Ricky Ponting may have given a thumps down to the idea of a seven-match ODI series, but his Indian counterpart MS Dhoni feels otherwise. This is a long series which gives us an opportunity to come back into the series. Whichever side loses the first few games has ample time to come back. It is important to play good cricket throughout, Dhoni said on Saturday.

Gilchrist predicts tough contest

Chennai: Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist expects the ODI series to be a tough contest. I would love to say 7-0 result for Australia but I dont think that is going to be easy. It is going to be a tough,hard-fought contest. India would be very keen to make amends for their early exit from Champions Trophy while Australia would be keen to maintain their number one position, Gilchrist said.

CL experience will help Oz: Lee

Hyderabad: Australian players experience of playing in the Champions League would hold them in good stead in the ODI series against India, feels Brett Lee. The experience I and other players have had on these wickets during the tournament,I hope it will keep us in good stead. Hopefully, this experience will helps us in the seven ODIs, he said.
