Badris belated birthday gift
With Sachin Tendulkar8217;s toe injury ruling him out of the rest of the series,BCCI8217;s selection committee has chosen Subramaniam Badrinath to replace him, secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement. Badrinath, who turned 31 last week, got a belated birthday gift after Tendulkar became the eighth member of the squad to be forced out of the tour. Tendulkar missed the first one-dayer at Durham with a swollen toe, ensuring he would not make his 100th international century on the tour of England.
Gambhir to take a call on CLT20
Gautam Gambhir will take a final call on his participation in the Champions League Twenty20 by next Sunday, according to sources. The left-handed opener has been advised complete rest by doctors after suffering a concussion. Gambhir captained Kolkata Knight Riders to the last four stage in the IPL and was expected to lead the side. Gautam will be consulting his doctor neurologist on September 9 or 10 and decide on his participation in the tournament, a senior KKR official said. Since he has had difficulty in sighting the ball of late,it will entirely be Gautam and his doctors call. We cant say anything at the moment, the official added.
We will continue to bounce India
Stuart Broad says the Indian batsmen should be prepared for more short-pitched stuff in the ODI series and there would be no let-up, despite all the injuries they have caused in the visiting camp. A Broad bouncer broke Rohit Sharma8217;s index finger in the rained-out ODI opener on Saturday, ruling him out from the rest of the series. Earlier,Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir had also been struck by bouncers in the Test series. But Broad said nothing would hold back the English. You never like to see a professional get injured, but this is a brutal sport and it certainly hit him hard, Broad said.
