India8217;s Rohan Bopanna and his French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin squandered all five break chances against Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez to bow of the ATP Cincinnati Masters. The eighth-seeded Indo-French combination lost 5-7 2-6 to the Spanish second seeds in the semifinals of the 3,079,555 hard court tournament. The Spanish side will now face top seeded American twins Mike and Bob Bryan,who saved a match point to advance to their 12th doubles final of the year with a 4-6 7-66 10-6 win over Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky.

Panesar gets divorce

England spinner Monty Panesar8217;s marriage with pharmacist wife Gursharan Rattan has finally ended after a bitter divorce battle,according to media reports. The 31-year-old spinner,who was recently in news for getting arrested for drunken misbehaviour and urinating in public,had managed to keep his separation from his wife a secret and their divorce was finalised only recently. 8220;Monty was devastated by the breakdown of his marriage and is still coming to terms with his recent divorce. His personal struggles have been a direct result of that,8221; The Sunday Mirror quoted a source as saying.

AFI blunder in Youth Games

17 track and field athletes are set to return home due to official bungling as Athletics Federation of India has sent over aged players for the multi-sporting event. The Youth Games meant for under 17 athletes those born after January 1997 but the AFI included 17 athletes born in 1996. This include gold medal prospect and youth season leader in Asia,Dutee Chand,who is tipped to win both girl8217;s 100 m and 200 m sprints. In India athletes under 18 years of age are eligible in youth competitions. All together 27 track and field athletes were picked while 25 reached Nanjing. The remaining eight will be participating in the track and field events which begins tomorrow.

Satyawart wins bronze

Satyawart Kadian has won a bronze medal in the 96-kg freestyle category at the World Junior Wrestling Championships in Sofia,Bulgaria. Satyawart produced a clinical display of freestyle combat to get the better of Turkey8217;s Ali Bonceoglu to open India8217;s account at the championships on Saturday. Earlier,Satyawart8217;s march was halted by Armenia8217; Viktor Kazishvili in the semifinals. In the other weight categories,Indian hopes were dented early after Asian junior champion Mangal Kadyan lost to Mehmed Zeyti Feraim of Bulgaria in his opening bout of the 50-kg category.

Narain wins at Nurburgring

Narain Karthikeyan recorded his third win of the season when he triumphed from pole in round six of the Auto GP series in Nurburgring. Narain faced stiff opposition from Italian GP2 driver Kevin Giovesi and his Super Nova teammate Vittorio Ghirelli,who started with the Indian from the front row. But the Indian always seemed to have enough in hand to keep the Italian duo at bay and managed to cross the line in the top spot 23 laps later.

Suarez issue solved: Rodgers

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said the Luis Suarez situation had been resolved but declined to reveal whether the striker had apologised for speaking to the media about his desire to leave the club. 8220;I won8217;t be saying anything on Luis Suarez and it8217;s only purely out of respect for the players that are working hard,8221; Rodgers said after Liverpool8217;s 1-0 win at home to Stoke City in their Premier League opener on Saturday. 8220;I am satisfied with how everything has been resolved and we as a club are now looking to the future and moving on,8221; he said.
