Two cameramen videographed the entire proceedings. While one cameraman was deputed by the police, the other cameraman was deputed by the Ponneri Revenue Divisional Officer.

The body was later handed over to the relatives. Ravi is still in the hospital.

In a related development, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary J Jayalalitha has demanded the arrest of the accused.

“The Government should not stop with an eye-wash drama of suspension of the police personnel who committed the ghastly crime,” she said.

As there was no charge at all against Chitra, “dragging her to a police station in the dark hours of the night exemplified the deterioration of law and order in Tamil Nadu,” Jayalalitha said.
