
AMRITSAR, Aug 10: Punjabi scholars should come forward to popularise the language and culture of the state at the international level, opined Ratan Singh Ajnala, Animal Husbandry, Fishery and Dairy Development Minister, while speaking at a function organised by Punjabi Writers’ Forum (PWF), at central khalsa orphanage here, on Sunday evening.
In his presidential speech, he said litterateurs can bring about revolutionary changes in the society and appealed to them to hold conferences in rural areas. Surjit Singh Cheena, general secretary PWF demanded the construction of a litterateurs house in Amritsar. He appealed for government help in translating the work of Punjabi writers in other languages and sending the same to other states.
The minister assured the members of the forum to consider their demand seriously.The forum presented a memento to the minister.
Professor Sewa Singh, Iqbal Kaur and Veer Singh Lopoke, MLA, Raja Sansi also spoke on the occasion.
