
VADODARA, July 8: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC on Thursday demolished around 1,000 square feet construction from the road margin on the Makarpura Road. The Makarpura Police also voluntarily brought down a part construction of the building which was falling under the road margin.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Administration H S Patel said the police brought down the construction voluntarily. Other constructions which were brought down included some cabins.
The Makarpura Road is being developed fully as a 36 meter road.
City bus: Mayor Bharati Vyas will lead a team of representatives of the administrative and the elected wings to attend a meeting convened by Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel in Gandhinagar on July 13 to hand over the city transport service to private operators.
Sources say as in the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation BPMC Act it is the corporation8217;s responsibility to run the services, the State Government is intending to take a final decision about handing over the service to private operators.
The civic body has already decided not to take over the city bus service.
Another meeting will be held with Industry Minister Suresh Mehta on Monday to discuss issues about improving the slums.
IOC fund: THE Indian Oil Corporation IOC on Wednesday handed over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to the VMC towards setting up a community hall in Warasia. The IOC is to give Rs 10 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Jails Minister Jaspal Singh, who is also in-charge of Vadodara, called upon the industries to come forward and help the local self-government bodies when needed.
Satyanarayan Pooja: A Satyanarayan pooja was held at the Ajwa reservoir. The pooja is organised every year to please raingods to get adequate rainfall.
