PCCTU rally cancelled

CHANDIGARH, Aug 26: The proposed rally by Punjab and Chandigarh College Teacher8217;s Union at Moga to be held on August 30 has been cancelled following acceptance of the unions8217; demands by the Punjab government.

According to Shinder Pal Singh, spokesperson of the Union, quot;a PCCTU deputation met the Punjab Chief Secretary and other higher officials of the Education Department, who assured that a grant of Rs 5 crore would be released on August 27, another Rs 5 crore in the next week and the remaining Rs 13 crore till September 10.quot;

And an assurance has been given that all unaided affliated colleges would be covered under the aided scheme shortly, and UGC pay-scales will be implemented in toto after seeking some important clarifications.
