Veterans not in fray

AGARTALA: In an unprecedented move, all the Marxist stalwarts and father figures of the Communist movement in Tripura will stay out of poll-battle in the February 16 Tripura Assembly election. Both the ruling CPM-led Left Front and the Opposition Congress-Tripura Upajati Juba Samity TUJS-Tripura National Volunteers TNV alliance are this time fielding young and middle-aged leaders for the coming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Rebel returns

PATNA: The newly-formed Bihar Jana Congress suffered a pre-poll setback with its general secretary, Prem Kumar Tiwari, returning to his parent organisation, the Congress. Tiwari said he had decided to return to the Congress as the BJC had 8220;lost its objective8221; keeping in view Sonia Gandhi8217;s decision to take the plunge.

Film star in BJP

HYDERABAD: Noted Telugu film star Krishnamraju formally joined the BJP on Sunday and said he would campaign for the party since it 8220;alone could give a stable government at the Centre8221;.
