CHANDIGARH, Aug 17: A paper reading contest was organised by the Population Education Cell of the State Institute of Education, Sector 32, on the first day of Population Education Week Programmes. Heads of various high and senior secondary schools in the City spoke on the "Present Status of Girl Child” in our society.

While Kamla Bains, principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 47 won the first prize, Saroj Mittal of Government Senior Secondary School, Karsan won the second prize. Swarn Lata, co-ordinator stressed on the need for good parenthood, equal status for girls and education for all living in the rural areas.
