MUMBAI, June 6: Pakistan wants an additional side match between the fourth and fifth Tests on their tour to India scheduled from January 10 to March 20.

Pakistan, who last toured India under Imran Khan and won the Test series 1-0 in 1989, are scheduled to play five Tests and as many One-day internationals. The tour itinerary is to be finalised at London during the nine-day International Cricket Council’s (ICC) sitting from June 8.

The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jaywant Lele, said here that he would be meeting former Pakistan captain and the current chief executive of the country’s cricket board to thrash out details about the tour in London.

Duleep Trophy dates

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that from next season, the Duleep and Deodhar Trophy tournaments would be conducted only at the affiliated associations’ headquarters or at venues where international matches are played in the zone hosting thetournaments.

The BCCI’s fixtures and programmes committee, at its meeting held at Calcutta on May 30, had also decided that for the 1998-99 season, the Duleep Trophy inter-zonal knock-out tournament would be held in West Zone from December 1-21 and the Deodhar Trophy limited overs league championship would be conducted in East Zone between January 19 and 31.

ICC directive

CALCUTTA: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked Kingston and Indore pitch authorities to take corrective measures to enable the two venues to stage an international cricket match again.

“We have asked both Kingston and Indore to relay the pitch afresh and ensure that it was up to the desired standards,” ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya told a press conference here last evening.

Dalmiya said the ICC had advised the two venues to relay the pitch and play a three-day or a four-day match six or seven months before a Test. The ICC will send an observer to inspect the pitch condition during that match.
