India today expressed concern over reports about curfew in Gilgit and the action taken by the Pakistani forces against people of the region. It hoped that Pakistan will act with restraint.

8216;8216;There is a history of sectarian conflict in Gilgit and Baltistan regions of Jammu and Kashmir and of severe repressive measures being taken against legitimate protests and demonstrations,8217;8217; the MEA spokesperson said.

New Delhi hoped that Pakistani forces will 8216;8216;act with utmost restraint8217;8217; and 8216;8216;observe international human rights standards8217;8217;. India will be keeping a close watch on the situation, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the government clarified that the relief centres proposed by India along the Line of Control would be operationalised only after Pakistan agreed. 8216;8216;A delegation is going, as I have announced, on October 28. We have made a proposal, Pakistan has made a proposal. These proposals are under consideration of the two governments,8217;8217; the spokesperson said.
