Pearly delights
Diamonds are a girl8217;s best friend, they say. But when it comes to understated elegance, nothing beats the good, ol8217; pearls.
And they seem to be back in vogue with the City8217;s nearing-twenties and above-forty-somethings of the fairer sex. With chiffons and satins still ruling the roost, with no sign of snowy winters around, pearls are really in for they set off perfectly against these fabrics, whether it for a hip party or a formal dinner out.
And also, gold has become passe, for the time being at least, with the festival season all done with. Hence, the need to bring out all those lovely strands for those barbecues and social do8217;s that call for elegance and sophistication rather than the bright and glittering shimmer, which is so essential for the festive look.
Taking cue from this renewed fascination, jewellery stores in the city are offering lovely designs in pearls, in combination with other precious and semi-precious stones. So, you can check out delicate seed pearls embedded against round coral stone and shaped into ear-studs that would go just as well with your off-white georgette as well as the red silk. Or pink pearls set off by little diamonds all around into a simple yet beautiful necklace set.
You can, of course, get them designed into jewellery of your own choice. So, try rice pearl necklace with an emerald pendant or turquoise set off by a single strand of pearls. The choice is wide and varied and limited only by your imagination. In these recessionary times, your jeweller is more than ready to give you a patient hearing and work out the little modalities of your requirements and that sholud help you get what you really desire.
In case you find that a little expensive, two or three stranded pearl sets, in whites, pinks and browns would do just as well as long as you can carry them well.
Almost all jewellery stores in sectors 22 and 17 have a variety of designs to pick and choose from. For a little ethnic touch, try the Rajasthan Emporium in Sector 17 or the pearl centre in Sector 9.
