Q Kindly explain the significance of the GEET / GEET 8211; E. What jobs are provided if one qualifies in these tests?

A The Centre for Policy Research Dharma Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 8211; 110021 8212; a leading non-profit organisation for research in state policy issues and personnel selection 8212; has proposed to hold the Graduate Employment Eligibility Test GEET and the Graduate Employment Eligibility Test 8211; Engineering GEET 8211; E. The tests are meant for young graduates who wish to be considered for appointment in public and private sector corporations participating in the exercise.

GEET is an open competitive written examination for graduates in arts / science / commerce etc, while GEET 8211; E is for engineering graduates. There is no guarantee of employment under this scheme. The purpose is to establish a link between suitable job aspirants and the corporations which may employ them. Candidates appearing at either of these tests will be issued a certificate showing the marks secured at each test, aggregate marks and eligibility status. To be declared eligible, a candidate must obtain a predetermined score and above in individual tests and the aggregate shall be declared in the certificate valid for two years from the date.

The first examination under this scheme is scheduled for 14.12.1997, with tests in reasoning, English, general knowledge and numerical ability. Applicants should be between 21 to 28 years of age. At the moment, 45 corporations have already joined the scheme. The written test for GEET will be of the objective type, of three hours duration. For GEET 8211; E, the above tests will be in addition to one professional test in the respective engineering discipline. Details of eligible candidates will be forwarded to participating corporations and others who may derive benefit from them.
