CHANDIGARH, Aug 14: The Punjab government has placed under suspension Faridkot jail superintendent and two other officials in a case relating to the purchase of sub-standard wheat.

This follows inqiury by Inspector General, Jails, Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon on receiving complaints about the purchase of sub-standard wheat for the prisoners.

Those suspeneded included jail superintendent Jagrup Singh, deputy superintendent Iqbaljit Singh and store keeper Thakur Singh.

An official release here said Faridkot senior superintendent of police had been instructed to register a case against these officials.
