
UDUPI, MUMBAI 14: The 1000 MW Nagarjuna thermal power project near Padubidre in Udupi taluk would be commissioned by 2002 after the techno-economic clearence was obtained from the central electric authority, according to Nagarjuna Power Corporation Limited NPCL executive director H R Alva.
He said the company had already obtained clearances from the Karnataka government to set up the two plants of 500 mw each by using imported coal and also authorised the Karnataka Electricity Board to purchase the generated power. He said the Rs 4000 crore project had been cleared by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
