New ICSE school in city

A new school following the syllabus of Indian School Certificate Examination Board is coming up at Pulgate, opposite Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand from the academic year 2009-10.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday principal of the school, Mark Choudhari said that the school named The Olive Grove School will have pre-school, junior kindergarten LKG and senior kindergarten UKG and further higher standards will be added every year. 8220;Unlike the traditional methods, we will be adopting new strategies for teaching subjects, said Olive Das, managing trustee of St Helena8217;s School. The school will have facilities like art and sciences laboratories, library and multimedia room, bus service, cregrave;che and a day care centre. Presently, the school has one teacher each for pre-school, LKG and UKG. Talking about why the school had adopted ICSE syllabus, Das said 8220;students who pass out from an ICSE school need not give English language tests like TOEFL before going to study abroad. Also there is no compulsion of finishing a particular set of syllabus within a time span.8221; Admission forms will be available from January 2009 at the school.
