
Angry Nationalist Congress Party NCP activists today burned down the bungalow of Opposition leader Narayan Rane and ransacked a hotel and petrol pump reportedly owned by him.
The mob went on a rampage in Kankavli taluka here today, a day after a newly elected NCP gram panchayat member was brutally murdered allegedly by Shiv Sena members. Kankavli taluka falls in Malwan, Rane8217;s constituency.
Police arrested Rajan Teli, a local Shiv Sena leader and a close associate of Rane, along with with 20 other Sena activists for the murder of Vijay Bhise. Bhise was allegedly stoned to death by a group of 20 people at around 10.30 pm yesterday. In his dying declaration, Bhise reportedly told the police that Teli led the group that attacked him.
NCP activists called a bandh in Kankavli today. They went on a rampage and targeted shops and properties of Sena supporters, including a petrol pump and hotel owned by Rane8217;s family. Later, the angry mob burned down his bungalow and destroyed several cars parked there. NCP general secretary Gurunath Kulkarni demanded stern action against Bhise8217;s killers.
