
District Shiv Sena chief booked for assaulting cop
Nashik Shiv Sena district president, Vinayak Pande, has been charged with assaulting a police constable who dared8217; to take his brother-in-law to the Nashik Civil Hospital to check his blood-alcohol level.
The constable, Anand Patil, had hauled Rajesh Gujar Pande8217;s brother-in-law and Santosh Patil to hospital for a medical check-up after they assaulted one Ramkrishna Raju Shirsat, during a drunken brawl at a bar. Shirsat suffered a head injury, sparking a riot in the bar, Hotel Santosh. The Ambad police found the rioters inebriated and subsequently took Gujar and Patil to the hospital for a medical test. When Pande learnt of the incident, he rushed to the hospital with his supporters, and, after a brief argument with the constable, the group set upon him. Pande claims he was furious because the police delayed Gujar and Patil8217;s admission to the hospital.
Bridegroom dies mysteriously
Mystery shrouds the death of 24-year-old RamnathJagannath Lonare, a resident of Lonarewadi, Shastrinagar in Sinnar, three days before he was scheduled to get married. Lonare, who worked in Marval Industries at Sinnar, was reported missing on Wednesday night. His body was discovered in a well belonging to Pandurang Trimbak Lonare. Ramnath is the nephew of Bhimabai Londhe, Sinnar Municipal Council chairperson . His death has baffled the police as he was a good swimmer. Investigations are on.
Two killed, 8 hurt in road mishap
Two teenagers were killed and eight others were injured in a collision between a jeep and a tempo on the Nashik-Aurangabad road early this morning. Police say two families were returning from Vihitgaon in a jeep when a tempo collided with their vehicle near Chitegaon. Salma Pathan 16 and Zuber Shaikh 18 died on the spot. Eight others were injured.
