MUMBAI, AUG 25: Police are having a rough time with gangster Ashwin Naik, who they believe is deliberately thwarting his interrogation by punctuating the process with complaints of dizziness. Crime Branch officers say Naik, who has been paralysed since he was shot at in the Sessions Court five years ago, could be feigning weakness since statements made in this condition are not admissible in court. They say he has not been overtly resisting interrogation though his attitude is subtly defiant.
Naik who was arrested by the West Bengal police on August 17 and handed over to the Mumbai police on Saturday, is also undergoing a medical check-up every 48 hours. He has been remanded to police custody till September 3 in connection with the 1997 killing of an Akhil Bharatiya Sena worker, Ramdas Ambhaokar.
