.

Aniruddha Bahal, the man behind the Tehelka expose, today said his statement during the recording of the Additional Summary of Evidence at New Delhi on March 15 last year had been 8216;8216;doctored8217;8217;. The court directed that the additional Summary of Evidence be sent to the convening authority of the GCM 8211; GOC 2 Corps 8211; for investigations and called for placement of the report on July 11.

Bahal8217;s claim came as Defence Counsel R.S. Randhawa began cross-examining Bahal at the General Court Martial trying Brig Iqbal Singh retd at Patiala after he was 8216;8216;caught8217;8217; on tape, accepting Rs 50,000 at a Delhi hotel.

Bahal alleged that while he had answered in monosyllables, the recording clearly show that 8216;8216;everything has been changed to suit the interests of the accused8217;8217;.

8216;8216;Six questions were asked to which I was asked to reply in monosyllables. It is only on Thursday that I came to know that the full stops had been converted to commas and monosyllabic yes-no answers have been turned to proper sentences,8217;8217; Bahal said. 8216;8216;That the recording has been doctored is evident from the fact that the ink colour used to extend the sentences doesn8217;t match the colour of ink used for recording the proceedings. Also the size of letters is different.8217;8217;

Prosecution Counsel Arvind Moudgil said the additions go against the very basis of Op West End and the evidence on the tapes. The notings of the proceedings on Thursday also say Randhawa 8216;8216;threatened and misbehaved8217;8217; with Bahal outside court. Rubbishing this, Randhawa said: 8216;8216;This is being done to favour the prosecution.8221;
