In a separate incident, a seven-year-old girl was killed in an accident in Maneja involving two cars and the two-wheeler.
Two children were killed in two road accidents in Vadodara city on Monday. A ten-year-old was crushed under the wheels of a water tanker of the Vadodara Fire and Emergency Services (VFES), a seven-year-old girl died after being hit by a speeding car.
A 10-year-old, identified as Deepak Talpada was killed in the Karelibaug area of the city when a VFES water tanker ran over the boy, who was standing near the tanker. The parents of the deceased boy – Deepak and Geeta – who are working as labourers in the vicinity claimed that they had alerted the VFES driver about their son being in the way but it was too late as the wheels of the fire tanker ran over the boy.
The Vadodara city police sent the body of the boy for post mortem examination and began investigation into the case.
In a separate incident, a seven-year-old girl was killed in an accident in Maneja involving two cars and the two-wheeler she was travelling on with her father on Monday morning. As per the police, the girl, Jiyan, was on her way to school and riding the two-wheeler with her father and sister when two cars collided near them and one of the two cars, thereafter, rammed into the two-wheeler.
Jiyan was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Her father is undergoing treatment for injuries even as the Manjalpur police station has begun a probe and arrested the two car drivers for rash and negligent driving.
