Two held in Kashimira murder case
Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of two businessmen near Kashimira in Thane district on Monday. According to the sources, a club owner at Kashimira, Vijay Sainy and one Amjad Khan were arrested while the third accused, Vijay8217;s brother, Ajay Sainy is still absconding. They were named by the deceased family members. Asmat Gulam Rasool Patel 42 and Mohideen Mustafa Halwe 25, allegedly had some land dispute with the accused. Search is on to nab the third accused.
Besta Samaj asks for OBC status
President of the Maharashtra Besta Samaj, Shyamkumar Lakampelli, with his representatives recently met Minister of State for Social Welfare Babanraao Gholap to demand inclusion of the Besta Samaj in the government8217;s Other Backward Class category. Gholap reportedly assured the delegation that a decision will be taken after the elections, said a press release.
Blood donation camp organised
As part of theInternational Customs Day celebrations, the Custom House, Mumbai, under the stewardship of Dilip Kumar Acharya and in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, organised a voluntary blood donation camp on February 3, inaugurated by B K Bakshi, Chief Commissioner, Mumbai zone.
Vasai, Virar trains blocked
Trains on the Up and Down section between Vasai Road and Virar stations on the Western Railway will remain blocked from 1 am to 2 am from February 3-15 due to over-head electric repair work. As a result, Virar 879 Dn train leaving Churchgate at 11.58 pm will run up to Vasai Road, and Virar 889 Dn will leave Churchgate at 12.37 am instead of 12.22 pm for Virar and will be regulated at Vasai Road.
NAAOA to resume quot;work-to-rulequot; stir
The National Airports Authority Officers Association NAAOA Western region has informed that Airport Authority of India management was unwilling to release the proficiency allowance package as agreed and signed with them in the memorandum ofunderstanding on December 24. NAAOA secretary, V Mohan said that they are forced to resume quot;work- to- rulequot; agitation with effect from February 5. If the management does not release the package immediately, we will be forced to resort to quot;total tool down protestquot; causing disruption of vital navigational facilities for which management would be responsible, he said.
3-day conference on radiation
The National Association for Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry NAARRI is organising a three-day International Conference in Mumbai from February 4 to 6. The meet organised by NAARRI, will highlight some of the contributions made by the radioisotpes and radiation technology in the field of radiation sterilisation of medical products.
