
Labourer crushed to death
A 45-year-old woman labourer was killed on Thursday afternoon when the stairway of a building under construction fell on her by accident in Kandivli. The incident took place at around 2.30 pm when Sayyama Mangalappa was working at the construction site of an eight-storeyed building belonging to Sahyadiri Co-op Housing Society at Charkop, Sector 1. The first floor stairway collapsed, killing Magalappa instantly, fire brigade officials said.
Flights to Gulf normal
Air-India and Indian Airlines flights to Gulf destinations are unaffected by the US-UK air attack on Iraq, and both the airlines are maintaining their normal schedule. Both A-I and IA do not operate any service to Baghdad, neither do they fly over Iraq, spokespersons for these airlines said.
Meanwhile, A-I has opened a control room at Dubai under the supervision of its regional director to monitor the situation. Similarly, the IA has also asked its station managers in all Gulf stations to be ready forcontingency operations. Both the airlines reported no no cancellation of flights.
