Smugglers nabbed
MUMBAI, July 20: Two persons including a woman were arrested by the Air Intelligence Unit AIU of the Customs on Sunday night for allegedly smuggling Indian currency to the tune of Rs 7 lakh.

According to AIU officials, Jyuthika Devi Harishkumar Madhu and Mustafa Taherali were about to board an Air-India AI-705 flight to Dubai when they were intercepted. A search of their baggage yielded Rs 3.5 lakh each, concealed in box files. The duo was released on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 each.City school to represent India
A group of 29 children have been selected from St Gregorious School, Chembur, to represent India at the International Folklore festival, to be held in Sweden between July 1 and 6. The children, below 13, will leave India on July 21 and return on July 29, after a trip to Norway. This is the first time that a group from India is participating in the festival.

Mangla Express on Konkan route
The Mangla Express, which currently runs betweenNizamuddin and Mangalore, will be diverted via the Konkan Railway and has been extended upto Eranakulam with effect from August one. The train, which is running via Itarsi, Nagpur, will run via Khandwa, Bhusaval, Kalyan, Panvel, Roha, Madgaon and Kakanadi and enable passengers to save 14 hours of travel time between Mangalore and Nizamuddin, said a Central Railway release.

Kamgar Aghadi stages morcha
Thousands of workers belonging to the Kamgar Aghadi staged a morcha at the Azad Maidan to demand that the state government implement pension and ESIC benefits to the workers and their families. The agitators were led by Aghadi president P N Sawant.

Notorious8217; city robber nabbed
A robber allegedly involved in the recent spate of robberies in the city was arrested on Sunday night and remanded to custody.

Sambhaji, alias Samba alias Maruti Shinde 32 was arrested by the crime branch, state CID, and remanded till July 20 by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D R Bhosale. Theprosecution alleged that Sambhaji, a member of the Tewer gang, is also involved in several murder cases.
