2 killed in bus-tanker collision
Two persons were killed and 47 were injured when a diesel tanker collided with a state transport bus at Malegaon this morning. According to the state police, the driver of the tanker lost control after a tyre burst and his vehicle collided with an oncoming ST bus. The tanker driver, Syed Chotu 42 and one ST bus passenger Ismail Syed Syedu 7 died on the spot, while the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, the police said.

Jeweller robbed of Rs 34 lakh
Seven unidentified men robbed gold and ornaments worth over Rs 34.5 lakh from a jeweller at Kurla on Friday afternoon. The jeweller and two other men were travelling in a Tata Sumo at around 12 pm, when another Sumo intercepted at Bail Bazaar. The robbers armed with a revolver and choppers took the vehicle towards Mumbra. After leaving the trio at Mumbra, the culprits escaped towards Panvel. No arrests were made so far.

In another robbery, cash worth Rs 30,000 and raw material for pharma unit worth over Rs nine lakh was looted from a godown at Oshiwara late on Friday. The police said, the robbers had sneaked in through a window of the godown at Veera Desai Road. A case of housebreaking was filed with the Oshiwara police. Further investigations are in progress.

Dial-a-cool-cab service inaugurated
Mumbai Taximen8217;s Union general secretary A L Quadros on Saturday inaugurated the Dial-a-Cool-Cab service which will now allow passengers to get a cab by just dialing for it. A passenger will have to call up the control room to get the taxi. In city, the cab will arrive within 15 minutes and in the suburbs in 30 minutes. About 80 cool cabs have mobile telephones. This service is available around the clock without any extra service charge. They can be contacted through the control room on phone no 2153377 and 2163177 for the city and 8227006 and 8246216 for suburbs.

Fire at Deonar scrapyard, no casualties
A fire broke out at a scrapyard at Deonar on Saturday. According to fire brigade control, the incident took place at 1.45 pm and eight fire engines and four water tankers were rushed to the spot. The fire was put out at about 4 pm and no one was injured in the incident, they added.
