BMC plot for dhobighat
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Girish Gokhale today assured the City Dhobi Mahamandal that the corporation would hand over a plot in the Mahalaxmi area for their operations. The Mahamandal had complained that its members were systematically removed from the present plot of the same Mahalaxmi area and were replaced by anti-social elements. Their claim was that they have occupied the present land since the British times. Gokhale said the Dhobi Society would have to pay rent for the plot.
Bhansali allowed to leave Mumbai
The chairperson of the CRB group and main accused in the multi-crore CRB Capital Markets scam, C R Bhansali, was today granted permission by the sessions court to leave Mumbai to attend proceedings before the Official Liquidator in Delhi and Calcutta. Sessions Judge S R Mehra granted the plea filed by Bhansali on his undertaking that he would inform the Bank Securities and Fraud Cell of the CBI in Mumbai each time he left thecity.
HC order on heritage panel
The Bombay High Court has directed the state government to consider the suggestion offered by the Bombay Environmental Action Group for constitution of a heritage conservation committee to list all heritage sites in Mahableshwar and Panchgani. The directives were issued on March 20 by Chief Justice M B Shah and Justice A Y Sakhare who heard a petition filed by BEAG that challenged illegal constructions and rampant deforestation in the twin hill stations.
