Chhota Rajan aide arrested

  • The anti-extortion cell of the central region arrested a Chhota Rajan aide, Ramya Dada Pawar when he had come demand money from a businessman near the Byculla goods depot on Sunday. The waiting police team warned Pawar to surrender when he arrived at 7 pm. However, the gangster pulled out a sword for attack. He was overpowered and disarmed before being arrested. Pawar had 17 cases filed against him including extortion and assaults.In another incident, the police arrested four robbers from the Phanse Pardhi community. Over Rs 18 lakh worth valuables were looted from the flat of a Deonar-based businessman, Surendra Shetty, between October 24 and 29, when he was away with his family to Aurangabad. Police have arrested four persons and recovered cash worth over Rs 12 lakh and valuables worth over Rs 1.5 lakh.

    • Kalyan DCP transferred

  • In the long-awaited changes in the Thane police commissionerate announced recently, DCP Zone III Kalyan-Dombivili ShrikantSawarkar has been transferred to the Anti Corruption Bureau, Nagpur while the Special Branch DCP Ajit Patil has been transferred as Pune city DCP. Three offcers V R Chavan, Waldhunde and Salunkhe will be joining as DCPs at the commissionerate. While it remains to be seen where they are posted, there is a feeling that DCP Zone IV Suresh Ahire, who is handling additional charge of Zone III in Sawarkar8217;s absence, will be asked to take over as DCP Zone III.
