
Two held for posing as CBI officers
Two persons, including a woman, were arrested by police for posing as Central Bureau of Investigation CBI officers at Andheri on Thursday.The duo have been identified as Badal Vishvanath Raut 26 and Nutan Vishanath Nagpal 32. The imposters were targetting businessmen in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra for extortion. According to the police, the duo used to visit the precincts of Sahar airport and the domestic airport to target victims.
BEST curtails services
The BEST has curtailed and cancelled several bus routes on Saturday on account of Ganpati immersions. Buses will be re-routed as per the diversions suggested by the traffic police.
The following bus routes have been curtailed: Bus no 1 from Mahim bus station at Wadala depot; No 37 from JM Mehta Marg at Mahim bus station; No 59 from Mantralaya will be curtailed at Pandit Paluskar Chowk; No 51 from Macchimar Nagar at Wadala depot; No 62 from Hutatma chowk at Mahim bus station; No 64 fromBabulnath at Mumbai Central Depot; No 79 from RG Gadkari chowk at Mahim bus station and No 241 from Wadala depot at Mahim bus station. The following bus routes will be suspended today: No 20 ltd from Backbay depot, No 101 and 6 ltd from Colaba, 24 ltd, 392, 421, 366 and the AC bus from the Ghatkopar bus depot. Bus no 7 ltd, 384, 605, 607, 609 from Vikhroli, 88 and 36 from Anik depot, 36 and 167 from Dharavi depot, 426 from Kurla, 23 ltd from Majas depot, 623 and L-1 from Majas depot, 231 extra, 252, 339 extra, 627 and 628 ltd from Santacruz depot. 232, 236, 258, L-3, L-6 and A-1 from the Oshiwara depot. No 244 and 294 from the Gorai depot and no 274 and Superfast 6 from Malwani depots have been cancelled.
Prabhu acquitted
A metropolitan court has acquitted Union Minister for Environment Suresh Prabhu of offences under Negotiable Instruments Act in a case of cheque bouncing filed against Western India Financial Services Ltd WIFSL whom he represented as a director before getting elected to the LokSabha on May 7, 1996.
