
M S University8217;s Faculty of Education and Psychology will host a five-day workshop on monitoring systems to enhance elementary education in the states under the National Council of Educational Research and Training NCERT from Monday. In the zonal workshop, the department will play host to educational fraternity from four states 8212; Gujarat, Rajasthan, Orissa and Uttarakhand.
Admitting to the deteriorating quality of school education, the NCERT has taken up a new project to understand the loopholes in the system and introduce stronger monitoring systems.
With this aim, the NCERT has organised the event titled 8216;Regional Workshop for Strengthening Monitoring Mechanisms in the States for Enhancing Quality in Elementary Education8217;.
M S University Vice-Chancellor Ramesh Goyal will inaugurate the workshop. The NCERT has organised five such workshops in various zones across the country.
R C Patel, the convener of the workshop and a member of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, said, 8220;The deteriorating quality of elementary education is not an unknown fact. But the whole primary education is spread over the national, state, district and even the taluka level. The basic aim of this workshop is to monitor the loopholes in the system from every region of the country and prepare guidelines for better administration.8221;
Around 48 people, 12 participants from each state, will take part in the workshop. The participants include school teachers, members from the State Council of Primary Education SCPE, District Institute of Education and Training DIET, District Resource Centre DRC coordinators, Clustered Resource Centre CRC coordinators and Block Resource Centre BRC coordinators. The workshop will be headed by Prof K K Vashistha, Head of the Elementary Education Department, NCERT.
8220;The coordinators have inspected all the schools at the taluka and district levels. They will discuss their observations on the teaching and learning module, the difficulties faced by the teachers and the students during their visit to the schools,8221; said Patel.
