MPCB files case against mill

PUNE, NOV 19: Just three days prior to the release of the pungent soapy colored effluent by the Pudumjee Paper Mill at Thergaon, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board filed a criminal court case in Pune against the mill for releasing sub-standard quality waste8217; in the Pavana river.

MPCB officials said that the court case was filed as per the provisions of the MPCB Act. MPCB had collected the samples of the effluents released by the company around two months back and on the basis of the report filed the case against the mill. Despite the filing of the case, the fresh incident of release of the effluent had occured, MPCB officials said.
