VADODARA, Dec 22: Tightening it8217;s grip on the fair price shops, the District Supply Office DSO teams carried out inspections in some more shops in the district and seized essential commodities worth more than Rs 1.97 lakh on Tuesday. The teams had on Monday seized commodities worth Rs 77,000.

More than 300 gas cylinders were seized from the Trishla Gas agency, owned by Bharatiya Janata Party leader of Manjalpur, Rajesh Patel. Checking revealed that he did not have proper records of sale and stock of gas cylinders. Details are awaited as the DSO probe is expected to take a couple of days more. A spokesman said Patel had also violated rules pertaining to supply of LPG cylinders of priority list.

Later in the day, the DSO team raided a fair price shop of Purushottam M Thakkar in Pavijetpur and seized wheat, rice and sugar worth more than Rs 16,000. Essential commodities worth Rs 4,000 were also seized from the shop of one Haria Rathwa of Kwant. The spokesman added that the accused may face cancellation of his licence as he also running another shop in a nearby village, which was against the rules.

Inquiry into the cases against Ramdayal Agrawal Jetalpur, Janak Gandhi Jivabhai Patel Vadodara, Ramesh Patel and Maganlal Marwari both of Pavijetpur and Liyaqat Ali Khan Nava Timberwada, Vadodara was still on, DSO Ashok Singh told Express Newsline.
