8226;BETULMP: Passengers of the Chennai-bound GT Express had a narrow escape as sudden landslides blocked tracks near here on Saturday and the train was stopped in emergency conditions. Rail traffic was disrupted on the route and the GT Express was taken back to nearest railway station at Dharakhoh. Railway officials rushed to the spot as a massive operation was carried out to clear the track, they said.
8226; KOLKATA: With about half a km stretch of rail track hanging precariously due to landslides between Jhargram and Gidni stations, the South Eastern Railway on Friday cancelled eight long-distance and four EMU trains for the day. The cancelled trains were 8005-dn Koraput Express, 2810-up Mumbai Mail, 2906-up Howrah-Porbander Express and 2827-up Howrah-Purulia
Express. Besides, 2885 up/2886 dn Shalimar Aranyak Express, 2021up/2022 dn Howrah-Barbil Janshatabdi Express and Howrah-Purulia Rupasi Bangla Express had also been cancelled for the day.
8226;JAIPUR: At least 12 people were feared drowned when the vehicle carrying them fell into a rain-swollen river in Jhalawar district, about 325 km from, on Saturday evening. The mishap occurred at around 5 pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a bridge on the overflowing Thapi river.
8226;JUNAGADHGUJARAT: Four bodies were recovered in Junagadh on Friday. While one of the victims was identified as a teacher and the other a 17-year-old, two bodies were yet to be identified and were suspected to be those of fishermen who went out to sea.
