Minor girl raped

SURAT, SEPT 7: The Kamrej police registered a case of kidnapping and rape against an unidentified youth, after the father of an eight-year-old girl lodged a complaint late on Monday night stating that his daughter was kidnapped, taken to a secluded spot in a field about 200 metres away, and raped.

Deva Gamit, originally from Usalda village of Songadh and currently residing at Valsan village in Kamrej taluka, told the police that his daughter was playing outside the house in Valsan village when an unidentified youth picked her up, took her into a nearby farm, and raped her before escaping.

The police said that the girl has only been able to describe the assailant as wearing a black shirt and black trousers. Aged about 25 to 30 years old, the assailant was a stranger to the girl. Gamit, who works as a manual labourer on a farm near the Umbhel Traffic Aid Post on Highway no 8, told the police that the incident took place around 8 pm last night.

The girl, who the police said is in a state of shock, has been admitted to the New Civil Hospital here where tests are being conducted by doctors.PSI Thakore is investigating further. No one has been arrested yet.
