  • India set up a new record of most extras in a World Cup match by conceding 51 extras in Zimbabwe8217;s innings. Pakistan, who conceded 42 extras to New Zealand at Christchurch, held the previous record.
  • As many as 90 extras were conceded, 51 by India and 39 by Zimbabwe, in the match which is a new record of most extras in a World Cup match. The previous record was of 61 extras in the Pakistan 29 and Sri Lanka 32 match at Perth in 1992 World Cup.

  • South Africa defeated defending champions Sri Lanka by 89 runs to record their 12th victory in 17 World Cup matches. It was South Africa8217;s first victory over Sri Lanka in World Cup and ninth in 16 ODI meetings.
