CHENNAI, SEPT 7: Barring the exit of third seeded Vikram Aditya Menon, other seeded players had a smooth passage into the second round in the CATA-AITA Mini/sub-junior tennis championship at the SAF Games stadium today.

In the boys8217; under-14, R Preetham Reddy of Andhra Pradesh caused the lone upset of the day winning against Menon in a one-sided match. Reddy, who won the opening set 6-1, conceded just two more games, before winding up the set and match 6-3 to make further progress.

However, it was smooth sailing for top seeded R Arun Prakash of Tamil Nadu who won 6-1, 6-3 against Aditya Madekar of Maharashtra, while second seeded Chatwinder Singh of Chandigarh won 6-2, 6-3 against R Vasudevan of Tamil Nadu.

All the seeded players in the girls8217; uder-14 led by Sania Mirza of Andhra Pradesh and second seeded Isha Lakhani Maharashtra won their first round matches to enter the pre-quarterfinals.
