NAGPUR, July 25: Congress Lok Sabha member and Sharad Pawar loyalist Datta Meghe today blamed Rajya Sabha member and former minister Suresh Kalmadi for the 8220;unsavoury8221; incident between the two in the Central Hall of Parliament three days ago.
Meghe, addressing a press conference about his educational institutions, said that Kalmadi had used filthy and provocative language against him for referring to Kalmadi8217;s humble beginnings and his current tirade against Pawar in a private television interview. Reports appearing in a section of the press had said that the two had almost come to blows while hurling accusations against each other.
Meghe said he was sorry for what had happened but the entire blame for the unedifying episode lay with Kalmadi.
He asserted that Kalmadi could not deny that he owed his prosperity and political rise to Pawar. But Suresh Kalmadi8217;s vaulting ambitions had made him ungateful. He, however, denied that he had described Kalmadi as a hotel boy. 8220;I had only referred to his smallhotel business in Pune,8221; he said.
Supporters of Pawar have alleged that his follower-turned-foe ensured his election to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra through money power. Meghe described as incorrect reports that he was planning to sell his medical college at Wardha. He explained that the college was being run by a trust named after his mother. He had inducted a Nagpur businessman in the board of directors to ensure better management of the college and its hospital.
