JODHPUR, OCT 7: With the Barkatullah Khan Stadium wicket playing true to expectations, the result of the three-day match between New Zealand and the Board President's XI produced the expected result - a draw.The visitors, however, used the opportunity on the concluding day to get the much-needed batting practice prior to the first Test against India, starting at Mohali on Sunday.Craig McMillan (168 not out: 19x4, 4x6, 289m, 238b) and wicketkeeper Adam Parore (72 not out: 9x4, 1x6, 217m, 160b) added 212 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket, taking the team's first innings total to 444 for five before Stephen Fleming declared, 40 minutes before tea. The Kiwis took a lead of 142 over the Board XI's score of 298.Gagan Khoda struck three sixes in the Board XI's second innings to add some excitement. The Kiwi spinners Daniel Vettori and Craig Wisemen took two and one wicket respectively as the Board XI ended up at 79 for four.Left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi was singled out for special punishment by the Kiwis, as he conceded 114 runs in 31 overs. Sanghvi's seven overs today cost 32 runs. Off-spinner Harbhajan, the most successful bowler for the hosts with four of the five wickets that fell in the Kiwi innings, was not spared. McMillan struck him for two sixes in one over (his other two sixes having been struck off Sanghvi earlier).Of the 100 runs the team scored in the post-lunch session, McMillan had added 68 runs to his overnight 44 while Parore took his score from five to 34.McMillan reached his hundred with his 12th boundary, cutting Zaidi to the point fence.
