NEW DELHI, February 22: There is some news for Maruti car owners. Maruti Udyog Limited will be holding a car race named `Autocross' on Sunday, February 28, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium football ground from 8.30 am onwards.The event will be open to Maruti vehicles in five classes Maruti 800 (post 1986 models), Maruti Zen, Maruti Gypsy 1000cc, Maruti Gypsy King 1300 cc and Maruti Esteem.The Maruti Autocross will be held on a specially designed course which will incorporate sharp turns and dirty track. The nature of track will award those with good driving skills. The track will be marked by a peripheral rope and participants will be penalised with 10 seconds each time they touch the boundary marker. The winner at the end will be the driver with the fastest time.Apart from necessary documents like driving license and insurance papers etc, seat belts and helmet for the driver are mandatory and along with the top three prizes, a special prize will be given to the best lady driver, best decorated vehicle and best dressed driver.Last date of entry is February 25 and the vehicles need to be inspected a day before the event.
