Man found laying sewerage pipe without nod

According to information, it was around midnight when a few residents noticed the digging activity on in the market area. The accused owns a shop in the area.

8220;I got the complaint that somebody was illegally trying to lay a sewerage pipe in the nearby sewerage line. I informed the joint commissioner of the MC about the matter. Thereafter, the officials intervened and stalled the work,8221; said Rampal.

She said the person who was trying to dig out the concrete ground to make way for the pipe alongside the road said that an MC official had allowed him to take the connection into the nearby sewerage pipe. 8220;When asked, the person named an MC official and said that he had the permission to undertake the work,8221; the councillor said.

However, when asked, the MC official VK Mahajan, said that he had not given any permission to anybody and added that it was not even in his authority to do so.

8220;I may have met this person, but I have not allowed him to undertake any digging work. It is not even in my capacity to grant such permissions,8221; he said.

On the other hand, the councillor said, 8220;The person was carrying out the work in the cover of the dark which proves that this was being done without any proper authorisation. But I have asked the higher MC officials to take the matter seriously as such connections usually lead to choked sewerage pipes.8221;
