Major fire in Songadh

SURAT, May 6: Goods and property worth Rs 50 lakhs was destroyed when twelve shops located in the main bazaar of Songadh town in the district caught fire late on Wednesday night. The exact cause of the fire has still not been ascertained.

The Songadh police took the aid of three fire-fighters to check the massive fire that began just before midnight and continued until early morning. According to the police, four small shops located in the middle of the bazaar suddenly caught fire. The fire slowly spread to another eight shops which were also gutted.
