CHANDIGARH, May 24: It was hectic day for the participants, not that they had to toil to get past their respective opponents to qualify for the main draw but had to wait for hours to get onto the courts as inclement weather conditions delayed the qualifying round matches on the third day of the Adidas Junior Tennis Zonal circuit tournament, which is being played at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association CLTA courts in Sector 10.

Much to the relief of both the participants and the organisers, it was clear sky in the afternoon and the contests were held in both boys and girls sections. Eight players each in under-14 and under-16 boys group made it into the main draw.

Qualifying rounds in the girls under-16 section were also held.

The players who have qualified for the main draw in the boys under-14 section are Nikhil Goswami, Bharat Srinivasan, Abhinav Grover, Ritesh Sabharwal, Yanik Nelord, Nilabh Avasthi, Sahil Vasudeva and GP Singh.

Nakul Yadav, Arjun Uppal, Gurneet Singh, Rajat Madan, Vishal Sachdeva, Vivek Sachdeva, Monish Chofla and Sahil Manchanda have qualified for under-16 boys group.

Eight qualifiers in the girls under-16 category are Gurpreet Virdi, Bahar Paul, Anukriti Prasad, Summer Bhullar, Harleen Uppal, Gungeet Bains, Maninder Kaur and Shamma Parveen.

Main draw matches will be held tomorrow.
