Had your fill of saas-bahu sagas? Here’s a refreshing school taleTelevision is finally letting go by letting its mother-in-laws bid goodbye without jumping into generation leaps. The last couple of months have seen new shows being born which are anything but saas-bahu sagas. Now there are Punjabi love sagas to mythological dramas to even mystery thrillers. Bringing in a mushy school tale is NDTV Imagine with ‘Baali Umar Ko Salaam’. “It’s a journey that begins with the excitement of a first crush to the realization of first love,” mentions a production insider. Premiering on November 3, ‘Baali Umar Ko Salaam’ is a story that will trace the innocence of first love and the romantic journey of a young girl Naina. A small town girl, Naina belongs to a traditional north Indian family. She is a simple girl-next-door whose is bound by strong family values and traditions. She is head over heels in love with Sameer, the new heart-throb in her class whose charming personality makes many hearts skip a beat. “The show is sure to bring both smiles and tears as one can relate to their sweet acts of innocence, admiration and dreams,” they tell us. Essaying the role of the main protagonist Naina is newcomer Ankita Lokhande and Jay Soni plays the central character and her love interest Sameer. Neha Desai and Lavina Tandon will be playing the role of Naina’s best friends Swati and Poonam. Speaking about the new show, Shailja Kejriwal, EVP- Content, NDTV Imagine remarked, “What makes this show stand apart is the simplicity of the storyline. It is told through the perspective of a young teenage girl and therefore is delightfully appealing. The introduction of Baali Umar Ko Salaam will add variety to our daily programming line-up.”Produced by Jay Production, the show will air from Monday to Thursday starting this November 3 at 8 pm.
