
KULLU, Oct 7: The week-long traditional Kullu Dassehra concluded, here today, with a colourful Rath Yatra and taking back of the idol of Lord Rama to its sanctum, Raghunathpur, today.Maheshwar Singh, MP and chairman of the Dussehra committee, who is also the descendent of Raja Jagat Singh, who is said to have brought the idol from Ayodhya, performed the last ritual of sacrificing seven animals at the Lanka Baker.8217;
A pile of wood and grass was set on fire to mark Lanka Dehan on the bank of river Beas.
The chariot of Lord Raghunath, the chief deity of the area, escorted by a large number of local deities was brought back to the place, from where the Rath Yatra had started.
Ealier, Union Home Minister L K Advani and Chief Minister P K Dhumal went to the temple of Lord Raghunath and paid obeisance to the chief deity of the valley.
Meanwhile, people were seen congratulating each other on the victory of Lord Rama.
No untoward incident was reported during the week-long festivities.
